Gas Leasing Committee
What are your Neighbors saying about the
XTO Energy Gas Lease Agreement
This is what your neighbors are saying?
· ..I did get a letter but don't intend to do anything at all until LCPOA gives me the OK.
· ..We signed a lease with XTO approximately 18 months ago for 20% and a $500 bonus. I would support your efforts, and wonder if our agreement can be voided and we become part of the better neighborhood deal.
We would encourage those of you who received an oil and gas lease along with a draft last week do not to sign the lease.
We have been gathering information and are formally starting the negotiating process. XTO is attempting to divide and conquer us. XTO needs to know that we will remain united in the best interest of our residents and community. Even though the Amon G. Carter Foundation has already leased fifty percent of the greater Lake Country area, XTO needs 100% of the land upon which they plan to drill under otherwise they would have already done so. If they have sent you a lease, it is because they need it in order to drill a proposed well, not because they want to make friends or feel that a little extra cash will cheer you up.
They sent you a map showing that they are drilling under the Eagle Mountain Lake to lessen concerns about drilling in the neighborhood. This does not mean that they might not put a drill site or compressing station somewhere near our neighborhood. There are quality of life issues, which are just as important as bonuses and royalties. The only way we can affect these issues is to stick together. We do not need water trucks and other associated gas field traffic driving through Lake Country Estates. We are taking a comprehensive approach to this whole issue.
The gas under our property has been there for millions of years and will be there the in the future. Bonuses and royalties are only going up in price. There is no need to rush. The only people in a hurry are the people from XTO.
Many families, my parents included, bought a houses in Lake Country thirty odd years ago because they thought that this community would be a great place for a family to grow up. I share those feelings that my parents had all those years ago and I believe that Lake Country is a great place for my children to grow up.
Please do not lose sight of why most all of us live here when being presented a contract which seems like free money.
There is power in numbers!
